Nancy Drew gets a Face lift!
This article in USA Today talks about the "new" Nancy Drew books that are being released this year.
In four new paperbacks due in March, Nancy is finished with high school. She tools around River Heights in an environmentally friendly, gas/electric hybrid car. She uses computers to solve detective work. And she tells her crime-fighting tales in first person.

BTW, thanks for the LOTR/BigFish boxoffice post. The staunch hobbits did indeed have their hair in knots!

     The Dallas Morning Newspronounced New Line Cinema'sThe Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King well on its way to winning Best Picture at the Oscars after the film won for best dramatic film at last night's Golden Globes. The Return of the King also received two Globes for best score and song, and Peter Jackson was awarded for his work on the film with best director.

Joan Aiken was a wonderful writer.
Joan Aiken, who has died at the age of 79, was an outstanding storyteller for children and adults alike. But though she wrote extensively for both - and won prizes for both - she began by writing for children, and her greater reputation was as a children's writer.
